The Lion And Three Cows Story
Three cows lived in a pasture situated on the edge of the forest . All three were of different colours: one black, one white and one brown. They had a strong friendship. All three lived together throughout the day, also grazed grass in the pasture and slept near each other at night.
One day a brown lion wandering through the forest passed by that pasture. There his eyes fell on those three cows. The lion was hungry for many days and was wandering in search of prey. Seeing the healthy cows, his mouth watered.
He sat in ambush behind a big rock and tried to separate the three cows so that he could attack them. It was difficult for him to face them in a group. But even after the whole day had passed, the three cows did not separate from each other.
The second day passed in the same way. The lion kept waiting for three days. But such an occasion did not come when all the three cows were not together. Finally Singh's patience paid off. Now he started thinking of such a solution, which would separate the three cows.
As soon as the solution came to his mind, he went to the cows and greeted them and said, “Hello friends, how are you guys? I was passing by here. When I saw you guys, I thought of meeting you.
The black and white cow did not respond to the greeting of the lion, because they knew its nature. But the brown cow accepted the lion's greeting and happily replied, "Friend, it is a great pleasure to meet you."
The black and white cows did not like the brown cow talking to the lion. She knew that Singh was not faithful. The lion seeks out other animals only for hunting, not for friendship.
Days started passing. Brown cow's cordiality towards the lion started increasing. Despite the persuasion of the black and white cows, the brown cow maintained friendship with the lion.
One day the lion came to the brown cow and said, “You are seeing that our body color is dark and that of the white cow is light. Light color varies from dark color. It would be better if I die and eat the white cow, in this way there will be no difference between all of us and we will be able to live together well.
The brown cow obeyed the lion and took the black cow aside and engaged him in his talk. Here, after finding the white cow alone, the lion killed it and ate it.
After a few days, the lion again came to the brown cow and said, "You and I have exactly the same body colour. But look, the color of a black cow does not match with ours. That's why I do such a thing that I kill and eat a black cow, in this way we will live happily here as creatures of one color.
The brown cow again obeyed the lion and went away leaving the black cow alone. Seeing the opportunity, Singh attacked the black cow and killed and ate it.
Now the brown cow was left alone in the pasture. All day she used to roam alone and graze grass. She was very happy. It seemed to him that he was the only creature whose complexion was like that of a lion. She started considering herself equal to a lion.
After a few days, the lion felt hungry again. He came in front of the brown cow and roared loudly. The brown cow got scared seeing this form of the lion. Singh said to him, "Today it is your turn. Today I will kill and eat you.
The brown cow started trembling with fear and said, "But I am your friend. I did as you told me. How can you eat me?
The lion roared again and said, "Stupid cow! I don't have any friend. How can it be that I, being a lion, befriend a cow?"
The brown cow kept pleading in front of the lion, but the lion did not listen to her and killed and ate her.
Moral Of The Story
There is strength in unity. Any group without unity easily disintegrates and gets destroyed.
